Letters to Kids First Kindy

Here are some photos of Room 2's fabulous writers taking over some thank you letters to Kidsfirst Kindy.

Kidsfirst Kindy very kindly donated some sandpit toys to us, we’ve already had lots of enjoyment out of the toys! 

We worked really hard to write our letters and we then hand delivered our letters to the Kindy. We got to read our letters to a buddy!  It was lots of fun!

Jungle exploring

This week we have been having a great time exploring the jungle during writing. We have been learning to use verbs (action words) and adjectives (describing words) in our story. All of us have been working so hard and our teachers think we are amazing. Some children even wrote their story as though they were one of the animals. Underwater world

We have been doing some more fantastic writing this week. This week were got to explore an amazing underwater picture! We are working so hard to use adjectives and adverbs.

Dinosaur adventure

This week we have been writing about this really cool picture.

We were learning to use adjectives in our story. Our teachers chose two children from each home room to create a recording of us reading our stories. Click on each slide to see the video each child made.

Our Sunflower Adventure.

Room's 1,2 and 3 are getting very excited about all of our adventures that help us to make our writing amazing. One of our most recent adventures was a short walk to our school garden. 

In our school garden we have some humongous sunflowers, they're as tall as a tower and the leaves are as thin as paper. We loved exploring our garden and thinking of lots of interesting adjectives to describe the beautiful sunflowers. 

After our adventure to the school garden we came back to our learning space and we thought of lots of adjectives that described the sunflowers. We thought hard about how we were going to write our stories and we came up with some amazing stories, make sure you come into our learning spaces to check out our stories!

Descriptive Writing in Rooms 1, 2 and 3

Hot off the Press

Room's 1, 2 and 3 have been learning to write descriptions using "wow" words and phrases to give the reader a picture in their heads. We chose you as our audience so please come in and enjoy reading your child's work. Below are just a few stories that have been published. 

Exploring Beyond The Fence

Today Room's 1,2 and 3 became explorers. We set off to find out what was "Beyond the Fence" as a language experience that could be used in our writing programme.

We ran up the big hill and saw lots of amazing things: the smoke billowing from the Port hills, the bowling club lawns, the tall cabbage trees and the huge pine trees.

We looked at the sparkling pond and saw: toitoi, flax, bullrushes and pond weed. We sat at the waters edge and watched the ducks compete with the eels for the food we threw to them.

The naughty wind took Fionn's hat into the pond and we laughed as it floated into the distance, finally sinking to be with the eels.

Finally we ran around the pond as part of our daily fitness routine. Back in class we had lots to talk about and each class made up a story to recount the adventure. In the words of Room 1 " We made up a real story!".
